Most of January can tend to be quieter in Auckland. Normally, there’s not a moment to spare on a Saturday night, but with Auckland anniversary and Waitangi Day bunching up close together, most city folk head out for long summer weekends. New Zealand tends to go on holiday the weekend before Christmas and only gets back to work in February.
